"I started out this mtb trip at 10 AM and slowly made the climb on the road to "Flag Pole Hill" aka Patriots Hill. The ride up the road was pretty boring but it had the occasional views and wildflowers. We went on a side trail for nice views of the surrounding hillsides. Then after that we summited Flag Pole Hill (Patriot's Hill). It had a summit dedication plaque, a summit flag, a summit register (mailbox), and a nice view of Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano. I then went up to Peak 880 Peak (Dad's Peak), which had no views and only a bench at the top. After that I continued down the trail to Reiker's Point which had okay views towards Dana Point. The I went down and then went back home." — lc444 • Aug 14, 2023
"A relatively easy hike this weekend to knock out a couple more peaks. I parked at the very end of Camino Las Ramblas and picked up the Las Ramblas Trail, making my way up, via Harbor View Trail to Peak 880. Then along Patriot Trail over to Flag Pole Hill and then back to my car. As you might guess, spectacular views of the coastal areas, Dana Point Harbor and Saddleback which still has snow on the summit." — marc • Dec 29, 2019
"3.5 mile r/t hike w/700' gain above Reservoir Canyon in San Clemente. Point 879 is located near the park trail head (0.3 mile w/330' gain to peak) at the end of Camino Las Ramblas. The 3.5 mile r/t route includes Flagpole Hill(700'); both points can be hiked on dog friendly dirt roads and trails, and have good views of Dana Point harbor area, and nearby towns of San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, and Dana Point.
