"I went this afternoon to the El Valle and Carrascoy Natural Park. I thought the access points would be closed because I saw numerous signs for a major cycling competition. But I realized I still had a couple of days to go, so I didn't change my plan.
The route is long, and now it's getting dark earlier, so when I reach Pico Relojero, I hesitate a little about continuing to the 608 m peak because I know it will be dark on the way back. I decide to keep going and reach my second summit of the day in the light of the setting sun. When I return, night falls, and only the city lights below provide a glow that allows me to walk. In the final stretches, I use my flashlight, which makes me move faster and more confidently." — franciscobirruezo • Sep 13, 2025
"
A hike with my son in Carrascoy Natural Park began at the Monastery of La Luz, taking the GR-250 trail that climbs through ravines toward Relojero Peak. The wettest March in the last 65 years in this region has caused the vegetation to grow significantly, and new flowers have appeared that I hadn't seen around here.
The climb to Relojero Peak is quite steep. From this point, we continued to the 608 m peak, which is located on a ridge known as "King Kong's walls." This part of the natural park is not very popular, but the views and conglomerate rock formations are very interesting. Towards the north, the cliffs are a refuge for numerous birds.
