"Sierra de Almagro. Andalucia. Started at the Canal de Remo recreational area near Cuevas del Almanzora. Originally built for rowing, the canal is now a quiet spot used for walking and local events. From here, headed north along a dry riverbed between Las Orejicas and Cabezo Redondo, passing through the area known as Umbría de Panes. Turned east to ascend the 303 m peak. No trail, but terrain was manageable with light scrambling. After a short descent, continued north to summit the 328 m peak. From there, descended to the Mina de los Tres Pacos. The mine was active from the late 19th century until the 1930s. It produced hematite and other minerals, and at its peak had an aerial cable system transporting ore to the coast. Today, only ruins remain. Returned to the Canal de Remo via trailrun, closing the loop. Total distance approx. 10 km. No water sources en route. Exposed terrain, early start recommended in summer." — belgianIbex • Jun 24, 2025
