"Took a rest stop on the way home from Wodonga. Drove to Euro and out to Mount Wombat. Parked the car and walked to the summit cairn. Set up the radio gear away from the radio installations to activate VK3/VU-002 and VKFF-2403, making 19 contacts before I closed and packed up. Headed back to the sealed roads and drove south to Merton and down the Maroondah Highway to Melbourne, then around to the Princes Highway and back home." — peterfreeman • Jan 4, 2021

"A detour on a trip home from Wodonga. Headed to Euroa, then up to Mount Wombat. Visitted the summit cairn before moving a little below the summit to set up away from others. "Two summits done as diversions on a trip home from Wodonga. Drove to Mount Wombat and parked below the summit. Walked up tot eh summit and set up the radio gear to activate Mt Wombat VK3/VU-002 for SOTA, making 5 contacts. packed up and headed south to Buxton and made my way up to close to Mount Mitchell. parked and walked up to the summit. "An early start from near Cobram. Drove Benalla and then down the Midland Highway to Barjarg and made my way to Ferraris Road and then Harpers No 3 Track to park below the summit area. Climbed up to the saddle between 2 granite tors and placed my pack on the ground. Climbed the larger tor to reach the true summit. Returned to the saddle and set up the radio gear to activate SOTA reference VK3/VE-132. making 12 contacts. Packed up, returned to car and drove around to close to the foot of Mount Barranhet. Climed up an old jeep track and then up the ridge to the actual summit. Set up and activated VK3/VU-001, making 10 contacts. Walked back to the car and then drove towards Strathbogie and then to Mount Wombat. Walked up to the summit to set up the gear to activate SOTA reference VK3/VU002, making31 contacts. Packed up, returned to the car and then headed down off the range to the Hume Highway. Travelled south to exit at Wallan and made my way to Pretty Sally. Set up and activated SOTA reference VK3/VC-034, making 14 contacts. packed up and then headed for home." — peterfreeman • Apr 7, 2013
