"On a mild, crystal clear, early afternoon, Petey and I drove over to Greenpond Park on Bigelow Road in Oak Ridge. We had to walk a quarter mile to the end of Bigelow where the Four Birds trail trailhead is found. The trail’s white blazes appeared to be recently touched up, and were very easy to find. The trail began as a fairly steep incline for the first half mile or so before leveling off along the very steep cliffs which overlook Green Pond Road. Those steep cliffs offered some clear views of some large homes and Deerhaven lake in the valley below. From there, we bushwhacked a few hundred feet before finding a fairly wide path that appears to be an ATV trail. A few worn out orange blazes could be seen on some trees. That path led us up to the mountain’s high point where a cairn had been erected to mark the spot. There were no clear views of the areas below from that point. A video was taken to commemorate the occasion, and then we made our way back to Four Birds trail and back to the car. It was a bit treacherous with so many leaves on the rocky path, but we made it.
