"9/18/25: After down-climbing the final notch the proverbial shit got real and I was asked the question of the day, “What’s your beta on this?!” The seemingly massive dihedral stood before us and looked totally different from the last time I stood at this point as its entire face was caked in an ice/snow mixture that made getting back out of the notch a total game changer. It was clear that tackling the dihedral was not an option today but even moving through the work-around to the left would be a challenge as the rock conditions were the same. It was at this point that I seriously regretted two of us having left our spikes in the truck (stupid!). Jennifer had the shoes with the worst tread so Jenna (the smart one) gave hers up and we proceeded up and to the left, clearing out holds as we made our way up to the left rib. We were all quite ecstatic that the other side of the rib was clear and dry and we easily made our way up to the back side of the dihedral for the final pitch. This, our actual crux of the route, once again demanded full-attention as I cleared out snow and banged out ice on all of the holds of the short but spicy mixed (now) moderate Class 4 climbing. "7/23/23: Final Level 2 scramble of the ASC with the CMC. From Fourth of July TH we made good time to Arapaho Pass with a brief stop at the mine shaft. Upon reaching the north ridge we found the rock to be bomber easy Class 3 with a short Class 3+ and down climb until we reached the Dihedral. I had been given the lead but no one followed me up the crux except for the instructors (everyone else skirted around it to the left). After another 3+ down climb we ascended the final crux (easy C4) and the made our way to the summit. An absolutely beautiful and extremely aesthetic ridge scramble under perfect skies and temps! We continued down the south ridge and then cut east down the scree gully to a short glissade and then between the Neva Lakes. We would mostly contour back north to the Arapaho Pass Trl before heading back down-trail. All in all one of the most fun days in the Rockies!

"Took the Class 4 North Ridge route up this and it was one of my favorite climbs in the Indian Peaks to date! One the way down, we were able to glissade for what seemed like a mile, and dropped around 800’ elevation in less than 10 minutes. Awesome day. " — LGH-Dan • Jun 21, 2020
