"Walked over colorful Mount Jefferson to the observatory on my way to Scott Stadium. I walked back over it from the reverse way (campus) on the way to my car. I may have created a new tradition. Views of campus and surrounding mountains were beautiful. Peak color for much of the forest, surprisingly. " — runshigleyrun • Nov 23, 2024

"After a day at a conference in Charlottesville, I went out on the soggy trails being hit by pre-Helene rainfall. I had run these trails many times, but years earlier. Leaves are already changing and the trails are quite technical rising as soon as I entered the forest. The trail I followed intersects with a road that leads to the summit and a 19th-century observatory. Great urban trail system on the edge of the University of Virginia." — runshigleyrun • Sep 26, 2024
"Drive up to the McCormick Observatory on the University of Virginia campus. Stop at the trailhead down the hill to hit the Charlottesville City High Point on the way. Don't hit this HP after sunset, as the grounds are closed for stargazing. If you can swing it, go on the third Friday of the month, which is public night. If I would have known, I would have come here the night before. Next time, for sure." — edwandall • Feb 19, 2011
