"The gate was still closed, so I made the long walk from the winter parking lot to the Beaver Creek trailhead. The trail started with rolling snow drifts, but became mostly dry by treeline. I passed three trail runners on their way down and was thankful that their footsteps would help pack the trail in the trees. From there, I only crossed a few small snowfields before the summit. I had originally planned to continue to Paiute Peak, but storms were already forming so I headed back. I went over Notabon on my way back and used the trail runner's post holes to get back to the trailhead with mostly dry feet." — WaxDr • Jun 5, 2020
"Thirteeners are incredibly underrated. Brutal wind and some snowdrifts through the early afternoon, but it was a pretty awesome day, hitting a few high points to the north on the route down to change things up a bit. " — LGH-Dan • Sep 16, 2017
"Me and a friend, Clint, hiked the Beaver Creek trailhead to Mt Audubon trail, roughly 12mi round-trip. Very windy and cool, in the 50's-60's. Lots of cloud cover too. Nice hike, the majority of it is above treeline. The last half mile was a steep incline over lots of loose small to large rocks. " — chance.harrell • Aug 14, 2011
"This was my second Indian Peak and my first solo of a Thirteener at age 15. I didn't even know there was a trail to the top. I started for the summit using dead reckoning navigation from Brainard Lake. I told my parents, who were fishing, that I was going for a hike. The first 30-45 minutes was through the pine forest. Once the real climbing started, I climbed and climbed until I made it to the top. It was a big adventure for me at the time. " — tj-burr • Jul 6, 1979
