Walked east along track to north of the smallholding there, an once hitting the small crag heading north around it and reaching a large concreted area which looks to be a water catchment area, visible on map. From here I follow the track roughly northward. This peters out as the terrain becomes steeper, and the efforts at agriculture become even less convincing. Some sort of plant does appear to be grown here, but I know not what. It has tuber like branches, and small green pointed leaves at their end. At the bottomg there are quite deep deposits of gravel sized pieces of the volcanic rock. It is a steep upward climb some trails evident but mostly DIY. The stone is quite loose in places but usually there's something still attached to the mountain to give some footing. The further up you go the more the rock is covered in various grey-green lichen, very dry to the touch. Reaching the top there is a path around the crater rim. Some places are in decay so due care taken. The highest point is to the east of the rim. Descended fairly slowly down same route. Impressive to see the huge crater.
