"A hike in the beautiful Caravaca Mountains, where there are few hikers today. I'm surprised by how the abundant rainy season changes the landscape, bringing it to life.
I see a small stream as I approach Peñarrubia. I take advantage of the fact that the bumblebees and butterflies are distracted by so many flowers to take photos. The day is mild, and on the slopes, you have to work up a sweat, but at the peaks, the views are worth it, and you can see miles to the horizon." — franciscobirruezo • May 25, 2025
"Good excursion today to the mountains of Caravaca de la Cruz, I cross mature specimens of pine trees while I listen to the birds sing. The sky is quite cloudy, but the clarity of the horizon makes it possible to distinguish many peaks in the Region. Some mountain goats hesitate to flee in my presence, which gives me the opportunity to photograph them. On top
lunch in complete solitude while I decide how to approach Cerro de La Canaleja.
On the ascent to La Canaleja I am surprised that there is a path that goes up to the top, but when I get to the top I see that a forest fire consumed a small oak grove that was there the other time I came here.
Searching the internet it seems that the event occurred in the summer of 2020, however I discover with hope that the oaks are sprouting again." — franciscobirruezo • Mar 19, 2023
"Nice day through the Caravaca de la Cruz Mountains. A lot of wind and cold in this place that is part of the Natura 2000 Network, while I eat lunch on the top enjoying views 60 miles away my hands start to freeze and in the end I have to wear gloves. I see some beautiful larches with their autumnal tonality as I head to Cerro de Los Conejos." — franciscobirruezo • Nov 23, 2019
