"Bright sunny day. Set off from Kettlewell, easterly up a long easy ridge to Hag Bank outdoor pursuits centre, then up onto the summit. Good views around the peaks of the Yorkshire Dales and to the Lake District peaks in the distance. Walked along the escarpment to lower summit of Brackfell top, then down steeply to the top of minor road pass at 500m. Crossed the road and walked around the head of the valley to Cam Head, then pleasant 2 mile descent to Kettlewell." — davidlong • Jul 14, 2016
"We had a reunion weekend in the Yorkshire dales for friends that had been on a previous trek to Mt Chomolhari base camp in Bhutan. The first day walk was up Great Whernside from Kettlewell village in Wharfedale. We had good weather, but very windy on the summit ridge." — davidlong • Jul 21, 2012
"The start of a 4 day trip to the Yorkshire Dales. We were lucky with unusually warm and clear weather for March. From Kettlewell, we walked up through the village and up by the stream out onto the open hillside, with the big ravine of Dowber Gill on the right side as we ascended. Hag Dyke is a scout centre, high on the hillside, which we passed through, before climbing steeply to the summit. From the summit we headed north along the ridge and then headed NW down to a fell road at the head of Coverdale - 500m. We crossed the road and then ascended for 1.5 km, just over 100 m to the promontory of Tor Mere Top, which is an outlying ridge from Buckden Pike. We then headed down the escarpment to Cam Head and then down the long ridge back to Kettlewell." — davidlong • Mar 25, 2012
