"A twosie of Friday and Balsam Cap from Moonhaw PA in the AM then headed further up Peekamoose road to hit Ashokan HP in the afternoon. Nice blue sky in the morning that slowly transitioned to fully overcast by late afternoon with light sprinkles falling. The warmer temps brought out the black flies." — Nimblefoot • May 20, 2022
"Getting Friday and Balsam Cap for the month of February. Ran into two friends, Yong Ae and George, on my way up Friday. George had already done BC so was heading out then I caught up with Yong Ae again on BC. As always she offered me half her sandwich, smoked salmon/avocado/jalapeño peppers on a bagel, and her warm tea. Dull Hillsounds were just barely enough on the ice at upper elevations otherwise mostly bare ground or patches of old ice. Had time to do a quick ascent of Overlook afterwards and get home at a decent time prior to the big storm. Plenty of ice on the trail but was able to dodge most of it so the Hillsounds stayed in the pack." — Nimblefoot • Feb 24, 2022

"Started at Haw Moon trailhead up a logging road on a chilly (zero degrees), but sunny day with Utica crew, Maryellen, and Nancy. Followed path made by club hike the day before. Used spikes at mile 2.5 and the rest of the day. Crazy bushwhack between mountains- Balsam Cap. Top of Friday at 11. Top of BC at 12! " — lfrancois • Jan 16, 2022

"An amazing hike with an amazing group.
Thank you Marv from the 3500 club for a safe fun tour of those beautiful mountians.
Thank you all in the group for such a crazy fun hike.

"The Catskill 6 starting and ending at Denning TH. Worse part was the long slog out the Fishermans Path to the start of the whack to Friday. Once on top then it was a fun but wet and slippery traverse over the other five peaks. After hours of bushwhacking and herd paths it was refreshing to get onto the P-W trail to reach Peekamoose and finally Table. The cloudy sky with occasional burst of brightness from the sun never darkened nor dropped any rain drops so nice comfortable weather for a hike." — Nimblefoot • Sep 16, 2021
"Eleven hikers and one dog(Alice) joined Yong Ae for a hike of Friday and Balsam Cap to witness her completion of her Catskill 420 grid. Majority of the folks attending are either officiated gridiots or gridiots to-be including Alice. Yong Ae got up at 2am to make us Korean Kimbap, three different fillings, for our lunch that also included pickled ginger, mochi and the ever popular munchkins. This was washed down with home-made chilled ginger tea which was quite refreshing. Once back to the PA and rehydrated with Pelligrinos she treated us to a late lunch/early dinner at the Phoenicia Diner. A rather warm and humid day but fortunately there was some breezes to keep folks from overheating and the bugs at bay. We hike a lot......not a problem....Ha!" — Nimblefoot • Jun 5, 2021
"Led Itty Bitty on a saunter of The Six from Moonhaw to Peekamoose road. Beautiful day with spring temps and didn’t see another hiker. Finally saw some Trout lillies blooming on our way down from Peekamoose." — Nimblefoot • Apr 27, 2021
"Five of us did the Catskill 6 to get a jump start on Spring. Nice warm day from start to finish. Bare boots from Moon Haw to the pregnant tree the jump off point for Friday. Four put on the snowshoes for the climb while I remained in bare boots. On our way to BC I finally relented and put on the big shoes for the rest of our traverse over to Peekamoose. Coming off of Peek we switched to microspikes to get down to Reconnoiter rock where we went back to bare boots for the final stroll out to Peekamoose road. To our shuttle car by 7:30 so no headlamps were harmed in this venture. Quick stop at Stewart’s for some liquids and solids to keep us awake for our 2-3 hr drive back home." — Nimblefoot • Mar 27, 2021

"Beautiful blue bird day i thought it was going to be pretty windy but it calmed down once I got to the trailhead. Yesterday was almost 50⁰ and the snow became pretty soft. Someone coming down must've slid on their but most of the way because it was like a luge today after it re froze last night. Met a couple from Long Island who are almost finished with their winters as well. 34/35 for my winter requirement." — LGH-Topple • Feb 17, 2021

"Well the plan was to hike Friday, Cornell, and Balsam Cap. We got a late start to the day and were at the summit of Friday around 12-1230. Bushwacked to Cornell which took a lot longer than expected and by the time we got back to Friday it was already starting to get dark and we didn't have head lamps so we decided to just finish the day and head back down." — LGH-Topple • Dec 30, 2020
