"Tom and I left the parking area at 10:08 am under cloudy skies @ 23 °. The short road leading to the locked gate was unplowed and covered in about 8" of fresh powder. The road leading to the public parking area had not been plowed so far this season.
. We managed to make an area for my SUV. An hour 20 mins later we summited . Shortly after, another couple and dog from Plattsburg joined us. The trip down after having broke the trail up only took 36 mins." — garyogden • Dec 7, 2024
"Nice walk up a service road to trail head. First half mile is a fairly easy walk just meandering through the woods, last half mile is straight up and a kick in the pants...lol. It was humid so lots of breaks taken but the view from the top was nice. Had the mountain to myself for most of the hike. Will say there is some washout on the second half of the climb and you can see where people are making their own paths around and up. Nice hike, just short

"Hiked this little gem for the first time. This was to finish of our ADK 9er challenge after missing out a few weeks prior.
The hardest part of this peak, is actually getting to the trailhead. Hidden away, and the road entry is easily overlooked just off route 30, coming in from the East. Parking is about .7mi from the actual trailhead, making it a 1.7mi hike. There is no access to vehicles between the parking lot and trailhead proper.
For those who visit here, once you hit the summit, continue down an obvious trail to it's southern peak for much better views." — HikingViking • Jul 16, 2022
"Frank and I put a lot of miles on the car and a few on ourselves. First we took the Boreas River Walk, then the Hewitt Eddy Trail. Wanting to climb some, we drove all the way up to Floodwood Scout Camp and climbed Floodwood Mountain. (We considered hopping over to Silver Lake Mt. too, but decided it was too late in the day.)
We went to both Floodwood summits. Views were great from south summit, great fall colors everywhere." — barbaratraver • Oct 12, 1996
