"Hiked Pinhoti Trail from Jackson Chapel Trailhead to the peak of Flagpole Mountain and back. Jesse was our guide to the state line, and the rest was new to him, too. Gina enjoyed Spring Creek while I went ahead to Spring Creek Shelter for lunch. After Jesse and I continued to the state line, Gina moved to the shelter to get out of the cold wind until Jesse returned from the peak." — davidensley • Jan 1, 2024
"If you are looking for a rock scramble, just go off the Pinhoti Trail when you get to the rocky ridgeline of Augusta Mine Ridge, but we prefer the trail. We hiked from Maxwell Gap. Gina turned back before halfway to the peak. I did a short, light bushwhack to the peak, then continued in search of a vista, but instead I found a dedication plaque that reads: "PINHOTI TRAIL // The easement for this 1500 feet of the Pinhoti Trail was donated by Audrey A. Furgerson in loving memory of her husband, Robert R. Furgerson // September 1993". Many thanks to Mrs. Furgerson, and hoping more will donate to turn more road sections into trails." — davidensley • Oct 24, 2023
"Overcast short hike with Nala from State park. CCC did a nice job with tower and area. People were at primitive sites. Trail had interpretative signs to make it more of a sensory experience. Very muddy from previous weather. " — lfrancois • Mar 10, 2022
"Bushwhacked through many briars up old overgrown road to old tower and building foundations and peak of Burgess Point. Decided to go down a clearer but steeper way to the road, then hiked back on the Pinhoti Trail for the most enjoyable part of our hike. There’s no easy way up Burgess Point as the gentler slopes are too overgrown, and the clearer slopes are too steep." — davidensley • Feb 6, 2022
"We tried to take the lower trail from Cheaha Lake, but the weather was hot, humid, buggy, and full of downed trees, so Christina wasn't having it. We drove to the top instead, but I'd like to go back and bag the summit for real some day." — wazoheat • Aug 12, 2021
