"A well blazed trail leads you off Hewes Hill in a SE direction to Carroll's Hill in Swanzey, NH. The summit is a slight bushwhack to the SW edge. There is a collection of massive erradics with a fine view to the East of Brennan hill and the summit tip of Grand Monadnock peaking over it. Now an official trail is blazed to the top of Carroll's hill from Tippin' Rock trail (Hewes Hill) The Tollman Family (their land) and the Open Space Preserve commitee of the town of Swanzey has preserved this important and historic area and have named it Carroll's Hill after Carroll Tollman. After looking at several historic maps of the area, I beleive Carroll's Hill was once called Bear Hill which had many Farmlands surrounding it's base. The town history tells of a Farmer that killed a Catamount in 1789. The last known big cat in the area." — mikezilla • May 30, 2012
