"On 23 August 2025, we went for a stroll up the very scenic trio of Saskatchewan Jr, North Tower of Saskatchewan & Big Bend Peak. These all start from the old bridge at the bottom of the big bend on Icefields Parkway. There's a pretty good trail for much of the way up, although it gets more indistinct near the treeline.
We traversed the bench alongside Big Bend Peak, with some unnecessary elevation loss down to the valley before following another ridge up to the summits of Saskatchewan Jr I & II.
From Jr II, it was a traverse over to ascend the North Tower, which, despite looking pretty bad-ass, turned out to be relatively straightforward.
On return, I took an unpleasant side-hill around Jr to avoid regaining it, and then followed the ridge back down to the valley.
With the fantastic weather and plenty of daylight left, it was impossible to resist visiting Big Bend peak on the way back via the west col next to the glacier. This was absolutely worth the extra effort, as the spectacular kilometer of cascading streams from the glacier melt was a highlight of the day. The descent from Big Bend was mostly pleasant with only occasional off-route bumbling and stumbling.

"Big Bend was a plan B for Jenna, Kate and I as we had originally planned on doing Coleman. However, we were well aware of the weather, so had a Plan B and C. My curiosity had been piqued for Big Bend Peak as it was a newer edition to Nugara's 3rd. Views weren't bad despite the weather and we trekked onward and upward.
