"1st Summit. Bartlett was my first-time off-trail at the GMNP. We made camp the night before at Bush Mountain Camp Ground. The next we woke up for an early peak. We headed down into the valley just off of the Bush Mountains trail. I tried maintaining some elevation, finding my way over to the Western Ridge. Once at the top, we more or less followed the ridge all the way to the peak. On Bartlett, we stayed less tight to the edge and scrambled up top. It was cool to see the ammo box on top still housed a peak log from 1989. We plotted out a future expedition between Schumard and Bartlett peaks and then made our way back the campground for a well deserved nap." — jsimps2 • Nov 21, 2016
"I was planning on doing Shumard peak as well, but something told me to wait on that. I took the Tejas trail to the Bush mountain trail, and a little ways after I passed the turnoff for the Bush mountain camp, I went off trail. I descended but stayed as high as I needed to, skirted the little point in between Bush and Bartlett, then climbed up the ridge until I reached the forest. From there I had to go away from the ridge, but there was less vegetation in the forest. I returned the way I came and headed off to do Mt. Pratt." — ZachTeich • Sep 5, 2016
