"Feli, Mike and I hit the HIghwood on Friday, which was great weather. Storm is a tough one on the grind up and a bastard on the alternate descent. Kane's description is a bit off when he talks about the ledge traverse as you have to keep going rather than ascend the ridge from the low point. I found that confusing. We saw one other person that was way off route with his dog..." — leigh-annewebster • Aug 28, 2020
"I went up up the slope too early, got cliffed off and wasted lots of time backtracking and side-sloping. Redeemed myself by going up "moderate" slabs to gain the summit ridge after the false summit and avoiding all airy exposure other people talk about. I descended the obvious gully right off the summit (Bob Spirko's route). It didn't save any time - going back the same way seems to be faster; that's what most people are doing anyway." — Taras • Aug 23, 2020
"6.63km with 1,100m gain in 3:30hrs
Gave up on the another plans due to screwed weather ("sunny and clear" in the forecast, wet pavement, very cloudy in fact). Quick morning run." — alexp • Aug 15, 2020
"Revisit of this mountain after a failed attempt two years ago due to snow. Went up the south slopes via the gully. Went all the way to the very end before ascending the scree slope by sticking to as many rock bands as possible. Got past the ridge with only minimal snow on it and crossed over to the west side of the ridge before the final push to the summit. Followed the Kane route by going to the west gully to make a loop. This route was somewhat tricky though with lots of loose scree on top of slab. Nice only for different scenery on return. Used spirko's gpx as mine didn't record. Completed in 5hr. "Finally bagged this one. Turned around on back to back years due to snow on the traverse. A tough moderate.
Alternate descent is easy, but the floods stole all the good scree." — mike_rogers81 • Aug 28, 2016
"Good Lord. I headed out to do Rae but it was closed due to bear activity so I decided to go up and do Mist MTN. Kane's book says to park at lost lemon mine sign, cross the road and head up the left side of a drainage. I did just that and got to the top. When I went to enter my name in the log..... STORM MTN!!!! WTF i climbed this six years ago! grrr. Oh well still a fun day out." — ChadKnight • Aug 6, 2012
"A long trip with Randy. Note... a better trail just below (right side) of the summit ridge as compared to right on the ridge, easily missed when going up. Might be nice to try from the south end of the mountain some time- from near the hot spring (very small and not very hot)." — MtnJohn • Sep 15, 2002
