"My brothers Josh and Patrick, and I, took the approach on the eastern side, about a mile or so east of the more popular western approach. We entered the canyon, and then took a side canyon up a little ways before climbing up to the ridge. We had to navigate around a few sections of the ridge, which ate up time. They might be doable, but we wanted to play it safe. Higher up we stayed level and got into the canyon north of the peak, then ascended that to the ridge coming directly north off the summit. We took that ridge up to the summit and relaxed for a long time, enjoying the views. We descended that same ridge back a little ways, then took the north canyon all the way down to the main canyon, then retraced our route back. We really enjoyed the climb, but beware of all the loose rock, especially on the ridges and steep slopes. Even a lot of the rocks in the canyon will move, so be cautious on every step and handhold. We had gotten our permits in advance from the Barry Goldwater Missile Range website." — ZachTeich • Jan 27, 2024
