"A great spontaneous hike with some good friends - Salmon Lake Lookout is always a great place to visit for excellent views that can be reached with just a few hours of hiking." — RangersApprentice • Jun 10, 2018
"3rd time up here, and it's stunning every time. An impromptu hike around the Frontenacs to this old favourite. A first for one of our friends, second time for 2 others. We then headed out to Big Clear Lake Lookout. A first time for our 3 companions. " — HikingViking • Jun 10, 2018
"This is by far one of the more scenic lookouts in the Frontenacs !! It's just off the main "Big Salmon Lake Loop" and for anyone hiking in the area, I'd highly recommend the short side trail to the top. The trail is easy to follow in the other 3 seasons (It's not marked) but a bit more challenging in Winter when the trail is unbroken (unless you've been before). Gorgeous views of the lake from an extremly high and steep rock pinnacle. " — HikingViking • Feb 17, 2018
"So, with 2 lookouts left in the challenge, we headed out to the trail on the Eastern side of the park, and come in via Big Clear Lake. Clear Lake road goes all the way to the park entrance, HOWEVER please note....There is no vehicular access once you get to a road called Christmas Lane. There is a small parking area with a sign saying "No Winter Parking Dec-Mar 21st", we parked here. The road is a public road however, but it states further up that there is NO PARKING on the side of the road. The road is narrow and rough, and at the end of the road is a small area that may fit 1 car, so to be safe, park where we did. It adds 4.5 miles to the overall trip. Once you walk to the end of Clear Lake Road, you get to a gate with a stile, past this a further few hundred meters and you get to the junction of Big Salmon Lake loop. Take a left. We headed straight out to Salmon Lake Lookout first, and WOW what an amazing lookout with awesome views and some pretty precarious looking cliffs. This was 100% my favourite lookout in the challenge. It became my 250th Peak Summited, and 301st Total. The weather was fantastic and the lakes were beautifully clear. I would recommend this hike by itself, w..." — HikingViking • Sep 16, 2017
"Wow, wow, wow. After flag pole hill, I thought we'd seen all of the best views that the Frontenac Provincial Park had to offer. This lookout is AMAZING - Watch out if you have a fear of heights though!" — RangersApprentice • Sep 16, 2017
