"Rained hard at the tower. Very long trail. Came home exhausted with 3 blisters. Mosquitoes were bad as were deer flies. Happy to have this behind us. Tips- drive to Remsen Falls parking lot and ride bikes to the bridge. If you don’t ride bikes it’s extremely long. " — melaniehaskell • Aug 24, 2022
"One of my favorites! It was a long hike (10.64 miles, 1006 feet elevation gain) with so many interesting things to see. Lots of butterflies, toads & so many mushrooms! (Lots of mosquitos too!)" — EmilyDoucet729 • Jun 20, 2021
"Hiked this long trail Today with friends for my 30th Fire Tower in total. Today also saw me complete the 52Hike Challenge, AND partake in 46Climbs for suicide awareness and mental health. A great metaphor for life, a long slog with a reward at the end for not quitting.
Not one of my favourite towers, that's for sure, but the company was what made it such an awesome day in the Mountains." — HikingViking • Aug 31, 2019
"A long but very enjoyable hike, done for the 46Climbs event in aid of the AFSP (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention). The 30th of all 30 ADK and Catskill fire towers for Dad and myself." — RangersApprentice • Aug 31, 2019
"A very long hike with great views of nature along the way. That being said I must admit that the Firetower was a little disappointing, perhaps because of the weather, the views weren’t that great. Still a bad day in the mountains is better than a good day anywhere else." — MarkEarle67 • Oct 8, 2018
"Was a very long walk in to the tower ,, Low cloud cover kinda day on the summit with not much views but the colors of fall was still visable through the clouds in a distance,, Trail was great, flat for the most part and a long medium slope to the summit. a few muddy patches but not bad at all,, One more Fire tower under the belt

"One of my favorites. The lengthy hike in was easy and because of the sunny and warm Fall day, it was relaxing and beautiful. The most memorable moment was stopping at Remsen Falls (I'm not sure I'd define these as 'falls'). It was the perfect Indian Summer day and there were only a couple of other hikers in the area enjoying the water. My return from the fire tower took me about 3 1/2 hours because it was difficult pulling myself away from the stream/falls. " — BuggysBoy • Sep 17, 2017
"Longest hike on the ADK Fire Tower Challenge @ 15 miles. I biked the first section & actually crossed paths with a black bear
about half way in. He or she ran across the trail about 20' in front of me. Not knowing if cubs were around, I hightailed it out
of there. I ditched the bike for the last section up to the tower. Nice views & the tower was in good shape." — billsussdorff • Jul 16, 2016
"This was an extremely long hike with limited payoff. My companions chose not to wear snowshoes, but I had mine on as walking on snow without them bothers my calves. There was some blowdown particularly on the last 2 miles of the trail which made this choice challenging for me. The trail marking system was interesting following the bridge crossing- blue, yellow, AND red markers denoted the trail, as well as various tin can lids and strips of random metal haha. It was very nice weather despite a predicted temperature of only 12 degrees, I think it was much warmer than that and we didn't feel cold until we were sitting on the tower. The lack of safety grating under the hand rails on the tower was a bit nerve wracking for me, & I'm always disappointed by a locked and boarded up cab. We had a mostly fun day as a trio. 2 more firetowers left for me!" — kellieirene • Feb 26, 2016
