"This was supposed to be an easy day. We parked at the dirt pullout off of the 215 at Pecos Rd, since vehicular access to the desert beyond is now restricted. We meandered towards Peak 3690, grabbing a bunch of geocaches along the way (which is why our track is not straight). We ascended a fairly easy ridge and gained a saddle. This is where the terrain and routefinding became more difficult. Melinda opted to head down and wait for us, so I gave her a 2-way radio, so we could stay in contact. We could see some cliff bands just below the summit that might prove problematic, but decided to make our way up that way anyway, instead of descending to gain the summit's eastern ridge, which looked doable. We hit the saddle just below the peak and made our way over the first obstacle with no problems, but then came to the band I was dreading. Nope, can't get up that. I followed the band to the west and luckily found a spot that we could get up. From there, it was just a loose climb to the summit. There was no register, so I left one. We descended the same way and met Melinda at the bottom. I hiked a slightly different, longer route back to the cars to get some more geocaches. M..." — Kevin • Mar 4, 2018
"Geocached 'em all (in the non-DNWR area), and then summited the peak. No, not that peak, the peak behind it. No, no, not THAT peak, the peak behind THAT. >.> Glorious views for days, though; an angle of the city I don't see often." — psychikingjes • Mar 4, 2018
