"Belgium. Cycled from our hometown Bruges to the Flemish Ardennes. Stayed at Camping Panorama and walked up this hill in the evening. The next day cycled on the Oude Kwaremont, Paterberg, Koppenberg, Stationsberg, Taaienberg, Eikenberg and Achterberg before heading back home. Some 200km in 2 days." — Pieter • Jul 21, 2022
"Belgium is such a pretty country. Back in the 90s, a lot of American kids spent at least one summer break in Europe while they were in college. When in France, I fell in with a crowd of French kids my age in Roubaix, and we made a day trip into Belgium to swim at the public pool in Kluisberg--or Mont-de-l'Enclus in French. (I waited at the border because I wanted to get a Belgian stamp in my passport, but there was no one in the customs booth.) This is right on the border between the French-speaking and Dutch-speaking regions of Belgium. Instead of swimming, I opted for a few hours of solitude. I took a trail into the forest and to the top of the hill. The hill had thick, pleasant woods, well-traveled paths, and a few modest views to the farmland below. It's a very low peak, but it's the only feature to break the horizon in that flat countryside. The photos are all cellphone shots of the old, grainy pics I took in 1990. " — briansnyder • Jul 21, 1990
