"Went out to see if there was still any snow in the Henderson hills. And I was excited to see there was! Trail was clear where the snow had melted and still quite a bit on shaded parts! Seeing snow in the Vegas area doesn’t happen very often. Fun short after work hike!" — maggielynn • Feb 1, 2023
"1.30.2023~ Looks like I’m on a snowy vaca somewhere important but it was only The King summit near Paradise Hills, Henderson NV on a rare snow day. Only snows on the mountain once every 10,000 years. 2 miles, 900’ gain. @oliviaraimondi_ joined the fun. Sunset hike. " — paula.raimondi • Jan 30, 2023
"Started off with a rainy morning this Tuesday Jan 18th 2020. Had plans to hike in Red Rock but changed to this awesome loop for the weather. We had low hanging clouds throughout the day that kept us cool and made for some great pictures. Iron Cross (The King) to the Queen to the Jack to Quo Vadis and White Gold 7. Descended the scree on the north side of White Gold 7 to finish this loop in under 6 miles. Awesome peaks all around, two thumbs up. Would do it again! " — DudeAlmighty • Jan 18, 2022
"The King w/ 3 of my kids, Autumn, Olivia & Jimmy Jr. 2.5 miles, 1,100’ gain. It was late day but very warm with no breeze. The kids worked hard. After, we went to the water tower to see the Full Worm Super-Moon rise. Jimmy and Summer met us there." — paula.raimondi • Mar 28, 2021
"This is a great hike, but fairly strenuous, due to a pretty steep climb over loose rock. It's a well traveled area and the path is easy to follow, though it's best to go slowly to make sure of your footing; I got full usage from my walking pole." — GMan • Mar 8, 2020
"2.2.19. 5.1 Peaks in 51 MPH wind on my 51st Bday w/ Kevin Humes & Harlan Stockman. 7 miles, 2,500’ gain bagging the cluster of “Chess Board” peaks on the top of ‘Ho’ Ridge. These peaks on the edge of town are surprisingly spectacular. King, Queen, Jack, Quo Vadis (mini Quo Vadis) and White Gold #7. It was hard and the wind made me want to cry but we endured. Highest winds I’ve ever hiked in. It threw me around like a rag doll. I suspect it was in the 60MPH range. Great way to celebrate Ground Hog Day." — paula.raimondi • Feb 2, 2019
"What a day! There was an 80% chance of rain, but I still wanted to get out. I asked Paula if she was interested in hiking in the rain & she agreed (on her birthday!). Her and Harlan met me at the trailhead at 8am and we set off for Iron Cross Peak (The King). I was slow moving up the hill, due to a problem with my calf, but eventually topped out. The winds were horrendous, so we kept moving, hitting The Queen, The Jack, Quo Vadis, then finally White Gold #7. We split up (accidentally) for the return trip, but everyone made it back safe. There wasn't too much rain, but the wind was seriously unbearable. Today was full of internal struggle, but we pushed on!" — Kevin • Feb 2, 2019
"Still sick with allergies but I did my fastest times. I’m still trying to get a 3:30 min descent down the .2 mile steep 450’ choss section but I was only able to shave it down to 4:12 min. I will keep working on it. " — paula.raimondi • May 2, 2018
"Heinous Choss Pile fun! Iron Cross Peak (King Peak) with my King 😍👣👣🤗. 1000’ mile to the top. I have a bad cold and ran in the morn on NLT for a few miles but the cold air burns my nose and lungs so I thought I’d try a warm Desert hill. Turns out going uphill burns my lungs. Darn!" — paula.raimondi • Apr 29, 2018
"I finally bagged all 5 peaks of this cluster of mtns. I headed straight for Quo Vadis (and its several peaklets) then I decided to get more of a workout and cruse the ridges for a few more peaks on the way back. White Gold #7, Queen and Iron Cross (King) for a 4+ peak day. 6 mile loop with 1,900' gain. Chilly, windy with sunshowers, rainbows and guns going off in the distance. Curious bighorns watched my trek from below in the canyons. " — paula.raimondi • Jan 14, 2017
