"Flew into LAS for work and and went for a quick trail run around the Lake Las Vegas area. Picked off Hummel peak during a 13 mile trail run and attempted to reach out to Pauleen peak but was unable to get to it. No social trails were found." — wiweasel • Nov 5, 2023
"Went out at the crack of dawn & did a loop over Rainbow View & Hummel before the storm hits. It was nice & cool, but very humid. The light is so beautiful out there at dawn & all the colors were saturated from the rain. It smelled so nice too. " — StudioHoodoo • Aug 19, 2023
"LOL ... meant to hit Rainbow View Peak as well and completely missed the summit. Maybe the fact that I couldn't really see the Rainbow Gardens should have been a clue. Anyways now I'll have to come back for it. " — DudeAlmighty • Nov 29, 2022
"Took advantage of the cooler weather to avoid going to Mt. Charleston for one more week ;-) Rainbow Gardens is my favorite area for exercise, pretty views & no people. It's literally 10 minutes from my house. I have done many loops through this area & always do something a little different each time. I parked on the Lava Butte Road which I accessed from Hollywood Blvd. " — StudioHoodoo • Jun 19, 2022
"Despite not feeling too great, I forced myself out early to my favorite backyard playground. I parked at the south end of the Lava Butte Road & hiked out the atv trail down the valley below Hummel, went up the NNE ridge of Hummel, descended the west side of Hummel right below the peak & hiked over to the ridge to Rainbow View, down the west side of Rainbow View back to my Jeep. I've done variations of this loop many times. Was glad to get out." — StudioHoodoo • Apr 3, 2022
"Met with Bart & Anji to take them on the Hummel/Pauleen Peaks loop, since neither of them had been hiking much in this area. We tacked on Rainbow View Peak, which was pretty cool as well. There is so much beauty out here!" — Kevin • Dec 30, 2020
"Hummel Peak the scenic way! I parked on the far south end of the Lava Butte Road & took the west ridge up Rainbow View, then dropped into the valley below & headed over to Hummel. I took the trail up, then dropped off the north side & followed another valley back to my Jeep. The Rainbow Gardens area is in full bloom right now. It was a stunning hike!" — StudioHoodoo • Apr 11, 2020
"Short scenic hike today with Amber. I had to go up to check on one of my geocaches, so we bagged a couple of peaks (for the second time) while we were out there. I really love this area!" — Kevin • Jan 26, 2020
"I had seen Paula's pics from this area and was interested in checking it out myself. Hiked up with a handful of great people (including Paula). We started by taking the well-defined trail up to Hummel Peak, then traversed over to Pauleen Peak. From there, our group split. Some went back down the same way. A few of us decided to follow the ridge to check out a couple of giant cairns that we could see from Pauleen. This is a beautiful area!" — Kevin • Dec 9, 2018
"A beautiful Sunday-morning hike. We started at the very nice park off of Galleria Drive, walked on a paved trail (possibly the River Mountains Loop Trail?) for a portion, and then followed a very well-maintained trail (large enough to be a 4x4 road for a bit - possibly for power line maintenance?) up to the hiking-only portion to Hummel Peak. A very nice trail the whole way; a flag at the summit with a solar-powered nightlight (making the American flag display at night actually legal). From Hummel peak, we descended back halfway before taking a sharp right turn straight up some loose sandstone slopes (gigantic pavers!) to head up to the ridgeline. We traversed over to Pauleen peak, and from there further along the ridge to a gigantic compass rose made out of local stones. We followed the ridgeline even further until it intersected with a trail down, and then followed the path along the wash back to the start." — psychikingjes • Dec 9, 2018
