"Nice loop. Pain in the ass getting there . rutted out bad in some spots was scraping a good bit . About 40 minutes to cover 12.5 miles on gravel wheeler pass was actually really well graded only when I got off on the side roads did it deteriorate . Hike is pretty straightforward , snow made it a little more challenging but nothing too bad . I was only second entry this year on horse and third on spring. Also went over to north spring since mr de q informed the log that it was higher . Glad to have these two done I’m prolly done in the spring mountains for this year though I am not a fan of the snow overall . Also there is a nice water cache at the wheeler well campground . I drank some I will let you know if I get ghiardia or die " — joshortman • Nov 15, 2022
"Mike & I did the 1.5 hour drive from Vegas to hike up here. It's a lonely peak and one that I've been wanting to do for a while now. It was 39 degrees when we started, but it got warmer as we made our way up the ridge. The wind wasn't too bad. For a change of scenery, we descended down the east gully, which was actually very pleasant. After hiking, we drove around to Horse Springs to check that out, as well as a nearby mine. Gotta love the Jeep!" — Kevin • Apr 4, 2015
