"1.11.23~Fire Cliffs HP, Bowl of Fire, LMNRA, 8.2 miles, 900’ gain in 2:44hrs. Went to fix my last reg entry, get some running in & go-pro vid the climb. I ran 6.2 of the 8.2 route in the washes. The rest was scrambling. Round trip PR of 2:44hrs. This track is the most direct route to the peak (without extra uphill and downhill) if you don’t have an off road veh. The washes were nice and damp from yesterdays rain so it was easier to move through." — paula.raimondi • Jan 11, 2023
"1.7.2023~Fire Cliffs Highpoint (#5) & Raven’s Rest, Bowl of Fire, LMNRA w/Jimmy. 9.5 miles, 900’ gain in 3:43hrs (includes an hour break at the viewpoint) We ran 6.5 miles of the route in washes. My 5th time up. I dated my reg entry 2021! What the hell. What-a weird mistake. My excuse is the fear and adrenaline this creepy peak makes me feel when I’m on top thinking about having to go back down. Such a beautiful area. One of my New Year resolutions is to do a peak or adventure at least once a week. It’s been so easy to wake and go work and deliver and collect money that I’ve neglected my love of mountains and nature. I do love that money tho! $$$" — paula.raimondi • Jan 7, 2023
"1.24.22~Fire Cliffs HP AGAIN!! #4…I know! It’s the same peak!!! But I had to bring a better reg. with the most accurate documentation of prior visits since the last one I brought was missing some names. I swear I’m moving on/turning the page on this one! 10 miles, 800’ gain in 3:06hrs, Bowl of Fire, NV. I saw a Winter snake so I’m convinced the world as we know it is coming to a fiery end. I took a different route today to change it up so my jogging was on a firmer surface (Callville Wash Rd.) No breezes today and I sweat a lot. I consumed 20oz of water and no food because my breakfast was obnoxious. Don’t ask. If I’ve missed any entries, please forgive. I did my best. I used 2 mountaineering web pages and pictures I took from the missing reg. (before it was missing) for a list of names. https://youtu.be/JpC12naBjaM

"1.20.2022~Fire Cliffs Highpoint, Bowl of Fire, NV~9 miles, 700’ gain, 2:55hrs (including :30 mins replacing reg., backdating, more recon & setting up webbing on the crux) This was my 3rd time doing this peak. Same route as yesterday. There was a frigid North wind. I’ve never gotten cold the many times I’ve been here, even in the Winter. I became nearly hypothermic setting up webbing in the shadows under the peak. I haven’t used protection here before but I had a bad feeling/intuition & felt vulnerable relying only on the brittle sandstone holds on this exposed part. I checked out the 2nd ascent option I read about online and it looks good, but again I wasn’t feeling confident today or up for wrapping my brain around something new & creepy. Productive day. I moved faster. I love this route. I get 6 solid miles of running to and from the scramble. I have to pay close attention to find veins of solid surface here and there as the sand wash is relentlessly difficult to run on." — paula.raimondi • Jan 20, 2022
"1.19.2022~Fire Cliffs Highpoint, Bowl of Fire, NV~9 miles, 700’ gain, 3:18hrs. This was my 2nd time doing this peak. Today I took a direct wash route to the North Bowl of Fire so I could get some jogging in. It took me as the Raven Flies to a canyon East of the peak. I scrambled North up this Canyon until I found a rabbit hole escape midway up to head West out, and then South towards the Peak. The final ascent route I take on this Sandstone monster blob is class 3+ starting with a tight overhung slot that leads to a few ledges and a final awkward vertical-ish exposed climb to the top (that I wish had more secure holds, especially on the way down.) If there is an easier way up that others speak of, I must not be seeing it. It’s a fun thrill ride that makes me tremble with adrenaline. I was sad to see the old register missing :@( It was fun to play out in the warm desert.

"2.6.2020~Fire Cliffs Highpoint, North Bowl of Fire LMNRA, 9 miles, 1,500’ gain in 3:18hrs, solo. The summit wasn’t very roomy. Eeeeek. Super Proud! I hammered the route and mostly ran because Jimmy has been on OT so I had to beat the clock to get the kids. Took a half hour to figure out which blob was the peak and plan and execute an ascent strategy. Was fun running in various terrain; washes, drainage gullies, faint use trail and the Jurassic sandstone labyrinth. No words can explain how magical it is here. The sandstone formations are monstrous, bizarre, Interesting and spectacular. If you have never been here, get it on your list and go before it gets too hot. Seems every peak with the word “Fire” in it is exciting and satisfying! I’m on a Fire tour now." — paula.raimondi • Feb 6, 2020
"2.5.2020. 8.5 miles, 1,400’ gain, 3:11hrs. 2nd attempt with a different approach. I ran out of time again as I had to get back and pick up the kids (since Jimmy is on OT) and the final scramble looks like it will take some time. I know what I have to do now. A lot of the route is runnable and the Jurassic Sandstone that makes up this Bowl of Fire is bizarre and spectacular so I love coming out here even when I don’t accomplish my goal. It’s fun to play “beat the clock!” The high was 40 but once I was in the bowl, it was surprisingly warm. It must be an inhospitable human death zone inferno in the Summer. "1.30.2020....LMNRA, Fire Cliffs HP Attempt, 8.5 miles, 2,200’ gain in the North Bowl of Fire. I didn’t have any Beta so I just tried to find my way. Ran out of time and couldn’t figure it out but I got to know the area better for a return visit. I think I will approach it from the back side. The sandstone here is so brittle compared to Red Rock. I saw a huge Mtn Lion print. If I weren’t so dead inside, I would have worried about encountering one. Amazing how warm it gets here when the wind isn’t blowing much. I’ve been feeling so low lately. Bad attitude and burn out.....today I contemplated giving up the mountains for a while. I feel beat down mentally and physically. I hate when my route finding skills suck. The beauty of the area was uplifting.

"I've been through this area & all across these cliffs countless times over the last 15 years. The North Bowl of Fire is one of the prettiest places around here & I adore it. Today I parked in Callville Wash (currently in rough shape & has deep sand) & hiked back a wash to the beautiful canyon at the NE side of the cliffs. Hiked up the canyon & exited the class 3 rock/rabbit hole. Made my way up to the ledge that people call Raven's Balcony. There are two rock formations above the balcony that are very close in height. I went up the one on the right (if facing the cliffs) from the balcony. I think that one is slightly lower. There is some exposed scrambling to get up it. I found it easier to go back down through the slot to the balcony & go up the other side of the highpoint. It was also an exposed scramble, but there was only one creepy corner. The rest wasn't too bad. Made a big loop back down through the North Bowl. I actually prefer the views from some of the lower points on the cliffs, but they are very pretty here too. If you go here, take the time to explore back there. It's just gorgeous. Sand is pretty deep right now because of the dryness. Please be mindful of the abundant..." — StudioHoodoo • Nov 3, 2019
"I taught a few people how to use their GPSrs the night before, then took everyone out on a hike through the North Bowl of Fire to test out their newly-learned skills. A couple of us climbed up to the highpoint of the Fire Cliffs while the others stayed below." — Kevin • Jan 4, 2014
