"99% humidity, I sweat through my shirt within the first mile and the views were considerably hazy. There were miraculously few bugs, however, and the temperature was pleasant in the shade - which was most of the hike. I set off from the trailhead just before 9:45am. The trail starts off flat, but quickly gains elevation after the first stream crossing. The water level of Andrew Brook was surprisingly low despite recent rain and the trail only had a few spots of mud. After about 2 miles I reached Lake Solitude which has several rocky outcroppings near the trail that serve as miniature "beaches". A quarter-mile climb later and there's a small detour to the White Ledges which has an excellent viewpoint over Lake Solitude and to the southeast. After the Ledges, the trail descends slightly before reaching a maintenance road that also serves as the Stovepipe ski trail. A quick climb later and I reached the Summit Lodge which offered respite from the humidity. Mt. Sunapee runs a gondola and the Lodge serves food and drink during the summer months, so there were many families that rode up and hiked between the summit and the White Ledges.
