"Decided we wanted some off-trail fun close to home and boy did we get that. AK and I started at the lower Tinkham Road trailhead @ 7 am and found our way back there about 10 hours later. We created a loop which had us on top of 6 different peaks, a single day PR for me (in order): Dirty Harry's Balcony, Dirty Harry's Peak, Coincidence Point, Webb Mountain, P3, Defiance. It was extremely slow going between Dirty Harry's Peak and Webb Mountain -- maximum bushwhacking and negotiating the endless boulders on that thing was exhausting. My favorite part was probably the traverse between Webb and Defiance. " — zachmitch • Jun 29, 2024
"I hiked up to P3 from the Ira Springs trailhead. The trail is very steep. Going up you generally take the path up, but coming down, you'll find many choices, some of which just leave you off somewhere; so some bushwhacking is inevitable. It's hard to get lost as the direction down is pretty unambiguous. From P3 I skirted just south of the ridge going west to West Defiance, or Web Peak. Then following the ridge north, on to North Web Peak, which is completely treed. From the topo map, it's pretty clear that the actual high point is nearer to Web than the peak indicated on the Peakery map. Going to the north peak, the ridge itself is either rough rock or dense trees. Better to walk on the scree just west of the ridge. No view from North Web itself, but everywhere else along the ridges have spectacular vistas.

"Early season loop out of Dirty Harry's TH. Headed up road to the fire training center and then found the old trail from there up Mailbox. Traversed over to Dirty Box (fairly easy) then over to DIrty Harry. Went straight up the west ridge of Dirty Harry which involved some exposed class 4 moves. Then followed the trail down to the basin below Webb, ascended the Talus slop to Web and followed Banana Ridge over P3 and then to Defiance. Dropped down to Mason Lake and then to Ira springs. Then closed the loop out with some running. " — stukesowle • Apr 19, 2016
"My buddy Paul and I have had a bit of a vendetta against West Defiance Ridge ever since we attempted to traverse it from Mailbox Peak to Mount Defiance 2 years ago and had to bail and head Down Dirty Harry's Peak disappointed and in fading light. The problem that day was very poor visibility due to thick, low cloud cover, which made our route finding completely reactive to what the ridge presented to us in the moment at hand. This caused much delay and even considerable amounts of backtracking as we made our way from Mailbox Peak nearly to Web Peak before turning back and taking the trail down Dirty Harry's Peak.
Today's weather called for sunshine and temps in the upper 80s, so we were confident the route finding should present no problem, but were anticipating a very hot day since we were to be exposed to the sun nearly the entire way between Dirty Harry's Peak and Mount Defiance. Despite knowing what we were getting ourselves into, I still failed to fully prepare myself for the heat. 6 liters of water/Gatorade for 6 peaks did not cut it. Anyway, without further ado lets jump into the trip.
First up was Mailbox Peak. No big deal. Some good conversation and we were th..." — Al-Rashid • Aug 10, 2014
"My bro and I summited Putrid Pete's Peak then traversed the ridge to Web Peak and back. Then we hiked the ridge east to Mt Defiance and continued on up the trail to the summit. Finally we stopped off at Mason Lake to soak our feet for a while before heading back to the car." — Al-Rashid • Aug 10, 2012
"I did this as part of a loop from Mason Lake Trailhead to P3, then Webb, then Defiance, then to Mason Lake, and back along the Mason Lake Trail.
The short traverse to Webb from P3 is almost completely melted out. The few spots of snow were small, very soft, and not an issue. The view from Webb was even better than P3.
