- There is a horse trail and a foot trail. The former is less exciting and can be muddy. There is also a spur trail which can be used to descend to the shore of Indian Lake.
- The summit provides nice views of Indian Lake and Snowy Mountain.

"Very nice trail with only modest elevation gains. Well-marked with DEC trail signs and red trail markers. Obvious that work had been done on the trail with water bars and rock steps. Mountain lookout at summit could view Snowy Mountain with its firetower. The "beach" at Indian Lake was very serene with majestic views of mountains and islands. "Tom and I left the trailhead at 9:54 on a cold, clear and breezy morning. Trailhead to the summit was in great shape. Snowshoes all the way in a solid trench. View of Snowy Mtn was great against a bright and cold blue sky. The frost on the tower sparkled like a diamond in the morning sun. On the return we bailed off the trail just below the summit and bushwacked a nearly straight line down to almost the trailhead. 1hr 10mins round trip." — garyogden • Jan 21, 2024
"Decided to canoe off our island in Indian Lake for the day. The trail is close to the campground. Was a nice, easy hike. I was expecting a view over Indian Lake but we were actually facing west. "Solo. Started out around 0900. My car was showing -1° when I started out, a crisp cold grey day preceding (likely) snow tonight. I was aiming for two small peaks today to test out two new pieces of gear- boots and a pack. Lots of hard packed snow on trail with a light dusting of snow on top. This was a nice easy climb, that started out on the flat and then had a tiny push at the top. The view was pretty nice, I could see Snowy Mtn & its firetower pretty clearly. The new boots are good, will need some break in around the top of the ankles, they’re a bit stiff on the outsides, and the pack fits like a dream, so I decided to go bag another small peak on my way back south to my house. "My last hike of the day. Nice directional view just below the summit, but not of Indian Lake. Maybe if I followed the trail further down, I would have had that view. "Mystery hike today. Mostly compact snow but there were several bad spots where you'd post hole up to your knee or higher. It was a lot of effort for a fairly short hike. The summit was nice. The sun never did make an appearance. It remained overcast all day. " — Hillary • Apr 5, 2017
"Second summit of a 4 summit day. Nice hike with great views at the top of Snowy and Pillsbury (in the distance) the Autumn colours made it even more spectacular.......definitely recommend this hike in Autumn/Fall." — HikingViking • Oct 9, 2016
