"Hike is through a former burn site covered in brush - including plenty of NM locust, a thorny bush that will easily penetrate typical hiking clothing. This hike also includes some steep slopes littered with forest debris including deadfall. I started from a pullout next to FR-266 where some signs are posted by the Jemez Pueblo tribe. From there I hiked east up an arroyo then traversed NE up the slope to a saddle that leads to the HP. Lots of locust and oak scrub. Not a fun hike. Getting there: To get to FR-266, turn off NM-4 onto NM-290 which leads to FR-10 and eventually to a signed intersection with FR-266. FR-266 is a high clearance road." — fredbrown585 • Apr 16, 2021
