2.23.2021~The Fortress, (aka Poop Mtn) Solo, 10.5 miles, 2,000’ gain, 4:13hrs. Nearly 8 miles of trail running and 3 miles of Mountaineering. I ran on trails and trekked in gullies to the Eastern side of the Fortress summit. This ascent route has creepy exposed tiers and ledge passageways with loose rock but was mostly class 2+ with a few short class 3~3+ parts. I spent time preening rocks off ledges and setting up cairns along my route so I can use this nice route in the future. I descended the Western side and ran Pandemic back to Henderson. I enjoyed the warmth today and worried the rattlesnakes would wake to sun themselves, but luckily I didn’t encounter any. Catching a breeze here and there gave relief from the heat.
