Trek from Abergynolwyn. Up old road and then to the slate quarries. Here the OS map and reality parted company significantly. A couple of frustrating attempts to follow paths through the forest thwarted the more ambitious plans to take in the hills on the ridge. So, losses cut, found a way to the south of this hill, and then made the arduous climb up the south side after making way along loggers' roads and what have you. Returned by cutting down north-west, through a swathe of recently timbered forest and back on to a track. Overall, a pretty beastly walk. Attacked by midges near the summit to add insult to injury.
