"Made it about a third of the way (starting from Waianae Valley Rd., as marked) before leaving due to sunset. I’d recommend starting earlier if possible, but keep in mind there is nearly no shade. The “trailhead”, as marked on the site, sits in a cemetery, so please be respectful if you do visit. Once through that, however, the trail consists of very loosely defined footpaths with some segments of literal rock climbing. I was able to traverse this with slides, though close-toed shoes are highly recommended.
The views from the top are incredible, featuring vistas of the Waianae and Mākaha Valleys. From where we stood (at one of the dead trees dotting the ridge), one could see everything from Pokai Bay and the boat harbor, to the Lualualei Naval Radio Facility.
Difficulty: 3.5/5 - Manageable, with little to no issue.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely." — Theotherotherfrost • Dec 29, 2025
"Peakbagging day on the west side. After a little research I found a way to get up to this rarely hiked ridge line. It was a nice pleasure crossing, at the end descending Mauna Kuwale was a little more scrambling, but that made it more fun. Was interesting to find that old bunker style building on the exterior of Kuwale." — nandorszotak • Feb 1, 2019
