"I had a great day out hunting cinder cones. Ulaʻula was an easy climb as there is a trail to the top. Manaʻo was also relatively easy, though climbing on the cinders was a bit challenging. Oakahua was the tallest, and I had to navigate through some dry vegetation to reach the summit.
Okau was the only one without a previous ascent, and I can see why. It is quite far from the others, and reaching the top required some difficult bushwhacking through dry vegetation. The descent was steep, and I had to hike through more thick vegetation before making it back to the 4WD road." — nandorszotak • Jan 14, 2026
