I'm not sure if the name "Prairie Lookout" is intended to be a joke, but there was no prairie or lookout. We used a bike approach for the first 2km, taking a wrong turn on the way in, but found the right way on the way out. The approach trail up French Creek was in reasonable shape and after a while we were at the scree cone below the west face of Prairie, just north of Mt French. There was quite a bit of hot scrambling and route finding to reach the ridge and then a fun traverse to get to the summit. It's easy to knock rocks down on this one, so a small group is essential.
