During a 4 day walking trip to the Yorkshire Dales, we go over to Lancashire, to go up Pendle Hill. This hill is famous for its links to three events which took place in the 17th century: -the Pendle witch trials (1612), Richard Towneley's barometer experiment (1661), and the claimed visitation to George Fox (1652), which led to the foundation of the Quaker movement. A Bronze Age burial site has also been discovered at the summit of the hill. Further details can be read in Wikipedia.
As it was misty, but with a forecast to clear later in the day, we walked to the hill by a roundabout route, past 2 small reservoirs, then along the base of the hill, eventually to a steep stoned path to the summit. Here the mist lifted above the summit, as forecast.
