I parked in Glaspwll at SN 73861 97485, though there is parking at the lane-end near Cwmyrhaiadr at SN SN 75677 96317. I took the RoW up the cwm towards the waterfall. Tried to access the higher RoW above a stand of trees, in order to gain height to attain the path up to the head of the falls. A bad move, as I ended up pushing through shoulder-high bracken. I abandoned it, dropping down to the lower path through bogs and tussocks. Awful! I crossed a stream, then a stiff pathless ascent over bilberry to gain the head of the falls path. This proved to be slippery and eroded, with some exposure. Eventually I reached a new seat (a memorium) at the head of the falls, in the middle of nowhere. It must have been a huge effort to get it to this wild spot From this seat it was a hard struggle through deep boggy tussock grass to Pt. 497m, from where a small path took me down and up to the summit. The descent back by a stream to the seat was just as bad. And the cwm path was a boggy bracken bash. Not a route I'd recommend, but wonderfully wild. I got back to the car late, after sunset. Solo.

Cloudy, with a few short sunny breaks. A chilly north-west wind. It did not feel like summer.

Buzzard, and wheatears.
