"What a great day for a hike. I hadn't hike this one in sometime and I had heard that the trail had been redone, I was anxious to get back to climb this one again. I wasn't disappointed. The new trail is much drier than the old one, and in the places where it was grown in, it is now cut back. There was no sign of the bear bait station that had been at the trail head the last two times I hiked here, perhaps it was the wrong time of year or the hunter isn't baiting here any longer. There was still plenty of bear scat on the Spencer Road and on the trail. We however were not fortunate enough to get a glimpse of a bear. The trail description on line says the trail is 6 miles round trip but the map at the trail head says it is 2.6 miles one way. The extra .5 mile may be if you park out on the Spencer Road and not drive in to the parking area. The humidity finally gave out and the clouds cleared has we neared the top of the mountain. There was like there as been in the past a wonderful breeze at the top. The views were just as I had remembered them. The best part not a soul in sight. I love when I have a mountain all to myself.
