"Our Hike Beyond the Hills Annual Santa Hat Hike. Takes us from the Cobb Estates to Echo Mountain, Inspiration Point and Muir Peak and then looping back down via the Middle Sam Merrill Trail." — Philip-Yoho • Dec 14, 2019

"Completed three summits on the hike. Inspiration Point, Muir Peak, and Peak 4668. From Eaton Saddle, the route is rather direct along Mount Lowe Road. The road passes San Gabriel Peak, Mount Markham, and Mount Lowe (all of which I had previously visited, so I saw no point in going out of my way to revisit). I had also been to Inspiration Point before. A few times, actually. The other two peaks nearby Inspiration Point I had not climbed: Muir Peak and Peak 4668. After visiting Inspiration Point, I followed the dirt road to its end at Panorama Point. From the end of the road, it was a very short climb to the summit of Muir Peak. Afterwards, I returned to the viewing tubes on Inspiration Point and also Peak 4668." — MikeTeeples • Dec 16, 2017

"Another Hike Beyond the Hills Santa Hat Hike. Took us from the Cobb Estates to Echo Mountain, Inspiration Point and Muir Peak, before looping back down on the Middle Sam Merrill Trail." — Philip-Yoho • Dec 2, 2017

"My very first Santa Hat Hike with Hike Beyond the Hills. In fact I think it was the inaugural hike. Great fun and great people. We hike up to Echo Mountain from the Cobb Estate. Continued on to Inspiration Point and Muir Peak. Then looped back down on the Middle Sam Merrill Trail." — Philip-Yoho • Dec 3, 2016

"Followed trail that begins on the east side of lower Rubio Canyon that pretty much follows the mountain's ridge line with a very significant incline to the top of Muir Peak that took about 3~4 hours. Spectacular views of San Gabriel Valley, Eaton & Rubio Canyons, Echo Mountain & Mt Wilson. Returned via Inspiration Point, Castle Canyon trail to Echo Mountain & Sam Merrill Trail, but used the cut-off at power lines to return back to lower Rubio Canyon. Very strenuous hike." — peterthompson1 • Oct 8, 2016
"4th of 5-peak traverse near Inspiration Point, Mt Lowe area. 0.4 mile trek from Point 4668 w/100' gain and about as much loss. 2.2 mile descent w/1,100' gain to Mt Lowe(5,603') from Muir Peak." — BradStemm • Apr 6, 2013

"I had heard that this peak can be elusive but the trail up was actually a nice USFS maintained trail from a fire road, hardly the poodle-dog bush wack I was prepared for. Definitely worth that extra half hour to tag from Inspiration Point." — Christopher • Apr 2, 2013

"Hiked on the old Mount Lowe Railway trail up to Inspiration point. Before heading down to Mt. Echo I climbed up the near by Muir Peak to claim the summit. Camera photos got lost at developing." — JohnnyMar • Aug 16, 2011
