Was able to check off Marie Louise after visiting the Pinnacles. It was convenient since it was only a few miles away. Pilot Rock Road was a little bit rough for my liking, so I parked in the non-high clearance parking area shortly before the creek crossing. This added 2 miles (RT) of walking on the dirt road, but I had no problem with that. I followed HPS directions to get to the trailhead, and was surprised to find rock cairns marking the starting point. The route wasn’t always well marked, though, and I wandered off a few times. However, I realized that If I stayed in the gully, then I would find rock piles marking a route. It was a challenge climbing over boulders along the way, but also fun. This was a short and rugged adventure in a lightly visited hiking area. Pilot Rock Road was popular with ATVs, though.
