Headed in from Pole Creek Trailhead at 7:30, followed Camp Lake trail until the climbers trail and then walked the Hayden Glacier runoff stream up to the Glacier. I foolishly decided to hike up the glacier with only my boots, the crevasses were open wide and I had to make several zigzags to avoid getting swallowed. Then the upper section was steeper than anticipated so I had to do a lot of kick steps to keep from backsliding. Once getting up onto the saddle between Prouty Point and Middle the path is obvious, just make sure to stick to the ridgeline. I traversed a few times to the face and ended up in the rotten nasty rock that crumbles under every tug and pull. Made the top by 11:30 and after snacking a bit decided to drop off the south side for some new scenery. The path down the south side is much harder to find and I lost it several times, but going down was not an issue. Chambers Lake was clear, but absolutely no cover. Camp Lake is also clear, but a popular destination for overnighters. Back at the trailhead by 4:30 and 18.5 miles roundtrip.
