Took the northern route up to Mescalito today, making a side trip to Sean Randles Overlook, an overlook high in Fern Canyon to honor a hiker who passed away while trying to save another. The route we took was fun, but had one exposed class 4 wall. From the summit of Mescalito, we took the 'shortcut' descent route down in to the southern fork of Pine Creek, which included a couple of fixed lines and quite a bit of exposure. Not really sure I'd want to do that one again! The temps were a little bit too warm for my taste, so we had to filter water once we got back to Pine Creek. Overall, fun day with awesome people!
