"8/9/25: After camping two nights at Blue River CG, Kevin drove us up to the Rock Creek TH where we started up the trail to the Boss Mine a good hour behind schedule. Our first challenge started right off trail as we easily found the climbers trail above the mine but it quickly faded out and we were forced to ascend mostly loose steep bullshit that had 0 fun involved until we finally gained to upper side of the ridge to pick up the East Ridge Trl. Thankfully it was smooth sailing from there to the talus slopes which we worked around to the north, somewhat out of the way, but easier Class 2. After summiting Peak 12847 we made the easy descent to the Peak 12940 saddle.
It should be noted that nearly the entire ridge from here to Keller can be kept to Class 2+ by utilizing many work-arounds along the south side of the ridge; but number one, what fun is that? Number 2, you have to be very good with route finding, in particular to be certain you don’t get pushed down one of the several gullies. Finally, it seems there may be a single pitch that is unavoidable solid Class 3. The moral of the story: come prepared to fully scramble this ridge.
