"We had come up to the Lakes again to grab a couple more peaks during the half term holidays and we were staying at the base of Dale Head at YHA Honister Hause. We woke to glorious sunshine with just a smatter of clouds and it was cold but not even a slight breeze. As we set off up Dale Head we could see a sprinkling of snow on the peaks across the valley but our route was clear. We reached the top just after 1pm and decided to carry on to Hindscarth. The ridge across proved a scary prospect for the youngest, it would seem that he does not have a head for heights and to be honest it is a long way down. However once across we made short work of the walk up to the Summit of Hindscarth had a chocolatey snack and returned the same way. A lovely walk with some great view views in all its autumn colours." — charliegill • Oct 30, 2018

"The Newlands Horseshoe walk - Bright sunny spring day, set off from Newlands church, near Littletown, follow the track to Snab farm, then go up steeply onto the grassy ridge of High Snab bank. Follow this ridge towards Robinson, where a little scrambling using hands is required. The views all around are superb. We then climb steeply up a grassy track onto the summit plateau, with the actual summit being several minutes walk across the plateau area. After a short break, we continue with the horseshoe walk and drop about 250m in height and walk up Littledale Edge on to Hindscarth, where the summit is a few metres north of the horseshoe track. We then continue along the ridge to Dale Head, the highest peak on the walk, and then drop steeply down to the small tarn. After a short break, we then climb again onto Maiden Moor, with good views all around, before dropping back into Littletown." — davidlong • Apr 20, 2011
