"Words cannot describe the majestic beauty of this magical place. We left the trailhead and made our way through the forest. There were a couple of huge fallen trees that were blocking the trail in a couple of places, and I was beginning to wonder what was in store for us. After these initial "roadblocks", the trail was easy to follow and we enjoyed the relatively short trip through the woods. Upon exiting the forest, we walked through what I called "Fern gully" and got our first glimpse of the amazing and steep meadow full of blooming wildflowers (Sibley Creek Valley). We continued up the switch-backs and my senses were assaulted by the intoxicating bouquet which seemed to rejuvenate my already weary legs. Before long, we had ascended the long switch-backs and stopped for a quick bite to eat. As we refueled, a Hoary Marmot was whistling from a rocky outcropping a little above us. It seemed to be letting us, and the world, know that he wasn't fond of our presence. The flies were fierce, so we didn't stay put for too long.
