"I had visitors from Wisconsin who don't do a lot of hiking, and thought this would be the perfect relatively low effort-high reward choice. It worked out perfectly. The weather was ideal, my companions loved the view, and we all had fun. " — Badgerinmaine • Jun 10, 2022
"Second small peak of the day in the Kennebec Highlands. Nice views over the lake from the summit ledges. Melt and freeze ice under the leaves in places made you keep your eyes open. Mountain all to myself. " — goshen-bagger • Dec 3, 2021
"This is one of the best ratios of effort to reward of any mountain I know. Taking the northern leg of the loop, it only took me 12 minutes to reach the summit. There are great views from northeast to southeast along a long ridge at the top. You can see Long Pond, Great Pond, Whittier Pond and Mount Phillip. A gravel parking lot was put in a few years ago, and there is a kiosk with maps at the trailhead. There is a metal Dropbox for donations for maintenance. The trail is in excellent condition and is blazed with blue diamonds. " — Badgerinmaine • May 30, 2017
