"This was a short hike up with great views. I completed this hike with my friends Jayden and Michael.
There is no real trail up the rock. Instead, there are markers guiding you to the summit. It is possible to reach the summit from nearly any direction, but please avoid stepping in the small vernal pools. The trail is short but rapidly gains elevation. Almost anyone can make it to the summit as long as you properly pace yourself.
Overall, this is one of the best hikes in central Texas. The views are great and the area is beautiful. Be aware that the park can get extremely crowded. Do not attempt to climb this during rain or if you suspect a storm is incoming. The trail is incredibly slippery when wet.

"Very windy, 30 mph gusts at the top. Took summit trail to the top; the first half is maintained, and then it goes away and becomes really steep. 400 foot gain over 1 mile, and took 30 minutes to get to the top. Very high visibility, with 360 degree panorama from the top. Would recommend this hike if you have a few hours to spare." — summiter49 • Feb 6, 2016
"Super easy hike up/down even in the middle of summer. Still a lot of fun though especially if you like geology. The "Rock" itself is a huge granite pluton. Lots of Texas wildlife around as well." — lazerpuppynerdsammich • Jun 1, 2009
