"Parked near the intersection of Date Palm and Varner Rd in N Palm Springs. From there, I crossed Varner and picked up a dirt road heading up the big sand dune of Edom Hill. I followed the route heading in the direction of the summit towers. I reached the towers on what I thought was the summit, only to realize that the true peak was further ahead. Once reaching it, I noticed it was fenced off and had a noxious chemical installation on top. I got as close to the top as I could without climbing the fence." — MikeTeeples • Apr 11, 2026
"Picked the perfect day to climb this huge sand hill north of Palm Springs. This day was about 75 degrees and cloudy in the desert. Doesn't get much better than that. I parked near the SW corner of the intersection of Varner Rd and Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City. I accessed the dirt road that climbs to the NE of the intersection. From there I used my judgement in finding the most direct route to the towers on top. Eventually I found the crumbling old road that may still serve the summit (accessible only by off-road vehicles). Buildings and media towers stand on the summit. I did find the benchmark, but only managed to take one blurry photo of it. There are good views toward Palm Springs, but everything seems so far away from the top. I returned to civilization from there and concluded my weekend." — MikeTeeples • Nov 12, 2017
