Hiked Pine Mountain Trail from Hines Gap Road to connecting trail to peak of Dowdell Knob. Not long after we started, we turned back to retrieve forgotten items, then continued to peak, so our mileage is longer than this route. Bug repellent and sun screen are recommended for this route. I estimate 2.5 route mileage with net vertical gain over 320’ and total over 470’ one way.
